A brief history of Marjetta Pointers

Marjetta Pointers began in 1968 with the purchase of a Male Pointer from Bill Metz. He went on to become Ch. Waldschloss Kemo Sahbee. I later purchased a linebred Shandown bitch from Helen Duggins, Ch. Braemerwood Shooting Star. She was bred to Ch. Shandown's Celebration. I did not get what I was looking for in this litter and then luckily acquired a lovely liver and white bitch from Dr. Robert F. Parker's Truewithem Pointers, who became the foundation bitch for Marjetta Pointers. "Donna", as she was called was a closely linebred bitch on Bryant lines. Her sire was the famous Ch. Counterpoint's Lord Ashley and her dam Ch. Truewithem Majestic Triumph.

Marjetta Kennels has been honored as Top Breeder in the American Pointer Club for the years 1979, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994.

Ch. Truewithem A Taste of Triumph (Donna), is the All Time Top Pointer Dam with 29 champion get. Four of these champions were also Best in Show winners: Ch. Marjetta Lord Carlton, Ch. and Marjetta English Cocker Spaniels

I have always admired the beauty of the English Cocker but it wasn't until a judging assignment to Finland in 1992 that I considered owning one. On that trip I was very impressed with the quality of the Cockers I had exhibited to me. I gave the Group to a lovely red dog called Northworth Clapman. He was bred, owned and handled by Nina Kauhanen. I started communicating with Nina and have had several dogs from her. My foundation bitch is Ch. Northworth Ring Over, bred to Fin. & Am. Ch. Northworth Madman's Return.

My goal is to breed English type dogs that have the merry temperament that is typical for the breed. I will do my best to breed healthy cockers that are free from inherited diseases.
